Bloodborne Demake Creator Releases Demo For New Game Tombwater

In 2020, solo developer Max Mraz released Yarntown, his unofficial demake of Bloodborne that translated the action into a Zelda-like 16-bit game. Now, Mraz is sharing the demo for his new original game Tombwater, and it looks even wilder than his previous title.

Tombwater is a 2D souls-like action-RPG that takes place in the Old West. It also retains a lot of the 16-bit style that Mraz used in Yarntown. The titular town has fallen to Eldritch monsters and the sheriff has gone missing. That leaves only a solitary gunslinger to take on the otherworldly horrors with every weapon at his disposal. The player's character is far from helpless, but even he may be outgunned by these unimaginable creatures.

The demo is essentially the game's tutorial, and takes place early in the story as the gunslinger investigates a nearly deserted mining camp. Through this sequence, players will be introduced to the game's mechanics and its arsenal of weapons, blades, spells, apothecary items, and magic charms. It also appears to have some metroidvania touches that may encourage backtracking.
