The Secret Life of Lego Bricks is a 336-page hardcover book with full-color artwork, diagrams, and other behind-the-scenes imagery.
It was written by Daniel Konstanski, the US editor for Blocks Magazine, and published by Sourcebooks with Lego's seal of approval and branding.
Founded in 1932, Lego initially specialized in wooden toys before it began tinkering with plastic molds in the late 1940s. This book explores the trial and error that eventually led to the creation of the ubiquitous brick with eight studs.
In the 70-plus years since, Lego has released. many different styles of bricks--and this book pulls back the curtain on the process for introducing new designs.
Konstanski talked with set designers, element designers, graphic designers, and even testers and technicians to get the inside scoop. Along the way, you'll also learn a lot about Lego the company.

This book isn't technically licensed by Lego, but author Jens Andersen spoke at length with former Lego Group CEO Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen and dug through Lego's archives to craft the narrative.
