Magic The Gathering Movie Lines Up Power Rangers Screenwriters
Hasbro's Magic: The Gathering live-action film has taken a major step forward. Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald--the screenwriting team behind Hasbro's unproduced Power Rangers movie--have been tapped to write the screenplay for Magic: The Gathering.
As reported by Deadline, BlackBerry director Matt Johnson was previously in negotiations to helm Magic: The Gathering, but it's currently unknown if he closed his deal with Legendary and Hasbro. In addition to the abandoned Power Rangers movie, Gardner and Fitzgerald also worked on The Trench, a DC Extended Universe film that was meant to be a spin-off from Aquaman. The duo are also teaming up for Trancers, a Prime Video original series based on the cult-classic sci-fi film of the same name.
Magic: The Gathering has been one of the most popular trading card games for the last three decades. The game's parent company, Wizards of the Coast, also purchased the rights to Dungeons & Dragons before Hasbro bought the publisher in 1999. Hasbro Entertainment and Legendary intend to use the Magic: The Gathering film as the beginning of a shared universe across movies and TV shows.
