Mario Kart World Has Smart Steering On By Default But Its Easy To Toggle Off

The Switch 2 and its launch titles are available now, including Mario Kart World. Players have discovered that, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch, Mario Kart World has smart steering turned on by default. Smart steering is an auto-pilot function, of sorts, helping players literally stay on track.

It's a helpful feature for those who want it, but it's not for everyone. Thankfully, it's easy to toggle off. You can toggle it off by pressing X during the vehicle-selection screen, or it can be turned off from the pause menu mid-race.

Mario Kart World also has auto-accelerate, auto-use item, and tilt controls, but these are not toggled on by default. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe worked this way as well, so this is nothing new or surprising.
