Middleearth Film K BluRay Collection Is Over Off At Amazon
The recently released Middle-earth 6-Film Collection is on sale for an incredible price at Amazon and Walmart. Launched on March 18 with a rather expensive $210 MSRP, the massive 30-disc 4K Blu-ray box set is discounted to only $94.68 at both retailers. That's a 55% discount and makes it substantially cheaper than the combined price of the 4K collections of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.
The Middle-earth 6-Film Collection is particularly notable because it includes all six Peter Jackson adaptations--Theatrical and Extended Cuts--on 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and Digital. This means you'll get the audio commentaries not found in the 4K releases of the trilogies, as these special features are exclusive to the remastered 1080p Blu-ray editions.
The Middle-earth 6-Film Collection (4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Digital)
$94.68 (was $210)
The Middle-earth 6-Film Collection is a massive 30-disc box set that includes 4K UHD and 1080p Blu-ray remasters of all six of Peter Jackson's film adaptations of author J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novels, including:
- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
- The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Theatrical and Extended Cuts of each film are included, as well as commentary tracks for each Extended Edition on 1080p Blu-ray. As mentioned, since the the audio commentaries for the Extended Editions are only available on standard Blu-ray discs, you miss out on those extras with the other 4K collections.
The new collection also has a voucher to redeem digital versions of each movie. This is a nice perk, especially since the standalone LOTR and Hobbit Trilogy 4K box sets no longer include digital copies.
The Lord of the Rings on 4K Blu-ray
If you're interested in rewatching The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, the 4K Blu-ray editions are sublime. The 1080p remasters are great as well, so it's nice that they were included in The Middle-earth Collection. But the new box set is just one option for Tolkien fans who want to revisit Middle-earth.
